Manage Your Bookmarks Like a Pro with These Tools

Despite the lightspeed-paced evolution of the Internet and the technologies that we use to take advantage of it, there are a few things that, for better or for worse, have defied the seemingly unavoidable throngs of development. A good example is the browser bookmark feature. Yes, we've all heard about it by now and we've probably all used it by now (if you haven't, then you seriously need to catch up with technology). Bookmarking is a feature that has become indispensable to the regular Internet user. It allows you to save, or "bookmark", certain webpages so that you can quickly jump to them at any time. The problem is, it can be difficult to manage your bookmarks, especially if you're using your browser's built-in bookmark system. If you want to take control of your bookmarks to keep them neat and properly organized, then you should check out one of these great bookmark managers:
Delicious
Delicious has become quite popular in recent years due to its dead-simple approach to social bookmarking. The main idea behind Delicious is to provide a service that allows Internet users to bookmark webpages and easily share them with other users. The reason this is on the list for good bookmark managers is that it allows you to save, search, and organize your bookmarks straight from the Internet. This means you can access your bookmarks from any computer with an Internet connection. Also Delicious offers a number of other options for social bookmarking fun. You can even grab a Chrome or Firefox add-on for Delicious. This app is for free.
Google Bookmarks
Sure it's great that Delicious has social features, but some of us like to keep things nice and private. Enter Google Bookmarks, a web-based bookmarking tool that is private and incorporates beautifully with other Google services. The great thing about Google Bookmarks is that it consolidates all of your Google bookmarks. Whether you bookmark something on Google Maps, Google Bookmarks, or Google Toolbar, star something in Google Web Search or the bookmarklet, they will all show up on your private Google Bookmarks page. You can organize your bookmarks easily and you even get some sharing options (only if you choose to share them). All you have to do is sign into your Google account and you'll have direct access to Google Bookmarks. This app is also for free.
Weave
Another great tool for bookmark management is Weave. Like Google Bookmarks and Delicious, Weave is also a web-based service, however Weave does offer a Firefox add-on as well. Grab this for your Firefox browser and you can easily and effortlessly sync everything from bookmarks, tabs, and browsing history to bookmark toolbars, smart location bars, and passwords. The best part is that Weave works with Firefox instances for your desktop, laptop, mobile phone, and Firefox portable. You can also save your settings directly on Mozilla's servers. This means that you can easily grab your browser settings and bookmarks in the event that your system crashes. Because this is free, you can organize your favorite sites without spending anything.
