If you are a BitTorrent user, then you've probably run into a bunch of different torrent clients, including BitComet, Transmission, Deluge, Vuze, and uTorrent.  There are a bunch of torrent clients out there to choose from, but this article is specifically for uTorrent users and those who are thinking of switching to uTorrent, because we're covering something that is completely unique to uTorrent.

Have you ever wished that you could stream the media that you are downloading on uTorrent?  Ever dreamed that you could simply control your uTorrent client from within your browser?  Today, your dreams come true as uTorrent gets some major functionality boosts with uTorrent Web Beta.  Read on to learn more about what uTorrent Web Beta is, why you should care, and how you can get it working on your Windows-based machine.

What is uTorrent Web?

In the most basic of terms, uTorrent Web is a tool that allows you to control your uTorrent client from any web browser.  Now, you can probably set up a way to do this manually with the help of some other tools, but seeing that uTorrent Web comes straight from uTorrent itself, it's definitely worth checking out.  The efforts that have culminated in uTorrent Web first began in January, when uTorrent embarked on Project Falcon, which had the aim of offering secure web access to your uTorrent client and providing on-demand streaming.  The team has worked hard to develop uTorrent Web, which was initially released as a private beta on an invitation-only basis.  uTorrent Web has finally gone into public beta, meaning that you can download the app straight from the Project Falcon uTorrent Web homepage at https://falcon.utorrent.com/.

Why would you want uTorrent Web?

On-demand streaming -  One of the biggest reasons that you might want uTorrent Web is that it offers on-demand streaming for streaming-compatible content.  Let's say you are downloading a movie file.  With uTorrent Web, you can continue your downloads while viewing parts of the video file that have already been downloaded. Same goes for music.  This is a neat feature that allows you to enjoy your media before it's even fully downloaded.  You can also use this feature as a useful tool for checking file quality.

Remote access -  Another cool feature of uTorrent Web is that it allows you to remotely access your uTorrent client from practically any web browser.  All you have to do is download and install the uTorrent Web-enabled uTorrent client from https://falcon.utorrent.com/talon/download.  Once you've installed it, follow these steps:

1.  Choose Remote Access Preferences from the toolbar of uTorrent.
2.  Check "Enable Remote Access" and follow the on-screen instructions to sign up for your account.
3.  Once done, check if you have the notice saying "Remote Access Status: this client can now be connected to."
4.  Save and close your preferences.
5.  Access your uTorrent client from any web browser by navigating to http://falcon.utorrent.com/, signing in, and using the web-based tool.
6.  Enjoy your newly configured uTorrent Web-enabled client!
