Memory allocation and Vista

I know it's recommended to have 2g for vista, but how much should I go for? I'm considering 6gb, since I'll be gaming, as well as doing graphic & web work.

I'm not sure if windows vista can detect up to 6gb RAM. I know that it can only detect up to 4gb of RAM.

If you play games and do graphic designing on your computer, I would think that 4GB should suffice. I, myself, do not play games; however, I am a graphic designer so I find myself designing a lot.
