Default Most people like open source because

They are free, but there's alot more behind the scene than freebies.

* better quality
* reliability
* more flexibility
* lower costs

Here's a few articles if you like to read down on things a bit more.

Open source - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Open source software - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The best thing is they are customizable. you can modify the software as you like as per your needs.
Or just use add-ons and modifications created by others.
Open source is the way to go!

Only one word: Free.
Most people dont think they have to pay for software.
This is not good because software is same as other goods.
And goods are not free!!
So why should be software!

Yeah. Its cost is a major factor.
Software should be free because of its owners are greedy.
People like microsoft just suck money out from people's pockets.
Free alternative should be available.

In open source system you are free to do whatever you feel like & there will be no virus attacks.
But the only problem with it is they do not run wide applications.

Open source is wonderful... it allows for the community to take part in developing something great, and the results are often great.

Default Better and Secure

Open source is better as they are cheap and offer more functionality then paid ones. They are more secure as most are virus free.
