It really depends on what I want it for and what kind of system I need it for. Built in then ATi is much better. Gaming then nVidia is better. Video then ATi is better. So it really depends.

I prefer nVidia. It's all about branding, and which you prefer. They both offer great graphics, so you cant really go wrong with either one. I prefer nVidias software and support too.

I would go for ATI. It is faster that nVidia. But if your chipset is nVidia, then you need to buy a nVidia graphics card to avoid compatibility issues.

It depends on the card... I've always had great performance and speed from my nVidia cards. Even if ATi are faster, it's probably not by a whole lot.

I prefer ATI because it offers really strong graphics. An old computer from 2007 has 256 mb of graphics !! and that's a laptop (with graphics inside) for approximately 1 grand. They're cheaper these days though.

There are no compatibility issues due to video card chipset manufacturers. That would come from the operating system.

Probably stole memory from RAM.

I'd go nvidia. Games are more or less optimized for them, drivers are better and linux has better support for them (if you ever want to try it?).

ATI has better value though. Depends on your budget i guess!
