CD writer not working

Hi,
I bought a new cd writer 8 months back but now i am not able to write any cds and even sometimes cannot read.The warranty period was 6 months.Can anyone help me?

hey man i had this problem too.when i had a sony dvd writer i suggest u take it to the dealer and dont mess with it yourself...mostly its with lens i think

Maybe the lens would not have cleaned properly.Try to buy a lens cleaner and clean it first and try using it.

Well i have tried to take it to dealer and got it repaired once.it was working fine there but wen i installed in my pc it was again not working.Thats the problem and dealer says he cannot solve my problem.

hey man if its less than 8 months u will still have warranty so insist the dealer for replacement

I also have the same problem with my DVD Combo drive. but I haven't got enough funds to replace it.

Here are the probable causes:
!. Driver probelems. Try reinstalling the driver.
2. Dirty lenses. Try cleaning the lenses.
3. It's really broken, go for replacement.

i think the problem is with lens ...as i had the problem....i went for a replacement and i got a replacement too

You will have a big problem on that since you only have 6 months warranty on the product whereas you have already used it for 8 months. Maybe they will just offer you a paid repair on your cd-rom.
